JOINING THE OBC

The Oregon Boxer Club is an informal group who are in love with the Boxer.  In fact, that is almost the only requirement to join our ranks – the love of the Breed!  You do not have to show them, breed them, or even own one.  We expect everyone to be proactive and support the Club through participation in committee work and volunteering.  We do require that each member read and subscribe to the Bylaws of the Oregon Boxer Club, Inc. and The American Boxer Club, Inc. as well as the Code of Ethics of The American Boxer Club, Inc.  The Oregon Boxer Club meets regularly.  Information on upcoming meetings and events can be found on our Facebook page at:  www.facebook.com/OregonBoxerClub

 

We hold educational programs at the meetings or events as often as possible.  This may be in the form of films on whelping, show dogs, proper movement, demonstrations on grooming, obedience, handling, etc.  We also put on Boxer Club Specialty Shows each year that progress through various stages of development throughout the year.  This is an excellent opportunity for new members or those new to the breed to learn about the Boxer and exactly what the OBC is all about.

 

If you are interested in being a member of the Oregon Boxer Club:

• You must attend four regular meetings and/or four functions to become an Active Member of the Oregon Boxer Club, and annually thereafter to maintain Active Status. (Associate Membership applicants need attend only two meetings and/or functions.  Those who live outside the 200-mile radius of Portland, Oregon can be eligible with 1 club function and a signature of two club members.)  We waive the membership dues for members under the age of 18.

• Request an application form from a club member.

• Secure the signatures of two Oregon Boxer Club members (in good standing) who are acquainted with you and are willing to sponsor you for membership.              

 

After being reviewed by the Membership Committee for not more than thirty days, the general membership will meet to act upon said application to vote.  A letter from the Membership Committee will notify you of your status.
